Head of Engine Development

    Salary: ₩180,000,000 – ₩200,000,000 per annum

    We are seeking a Head of Engine Development to establish a detailed mid- to long-term development strategy roadmap for launch vehicle engines. We welcome applications from experts with 10+ years of experience in engine development.


    Responsibilities:

    • Establish detailed mid-/long-term development strategies and roadmaps for launch vehicle engines
    • Analyze global trends in launch vehicle engine development/operations and define directions for securing core technologies
    • Manage development schedules of sub-departments and oversee R&D performance
    • Develop budget/resource allocation plans and lead development processes
    • Define design requirements for launch vehicle combustion chambers/igniters and electric motor pumps
    • Oversee system integration design and review of launch vehicle engines
    • Establish and supervise component test plans for combustion chambers/electric motor pumps
    • Establish and supervise integrated system test plans for launch vehicle engines
    • Oversee test facility management and safety for engine test sites
    • Ensure safety in rocket engine combustion test stands and electric motor testing environments
    • Develop workforce planning and strategies for organizational growth

    Requirements:

    • Master’s or PhD degree with 10+ years of engine development experience
    • Majors in Aerospace Engineering, Combustion Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
    • English proficiency required
    • Proven experience in leading engineering teams, including system design
    • Comprehensive understanding of liquid rocket engine components
    • Knowledge of combustion chamber development
    • Knowledge of electric motor pump development
    • Understanding and practical ability in systems engineering processes
    • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Effective decision-making capabilities
    • Broad technical understanding of system design/analysis/testing and operations
    • Competence in planning, executing, controlling, and risk management of large-scale projects
    • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink modeling and simulation
    • Ability to use data analysis and visualization tools
    • Strong technical writing and presentation skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • PhD with 5+ years of engine development and operational experience
    • Hands-on experience in launch vehicle engine design and testing
    • Experience in electric motor pump system design and testing
    • Experience in managing budgets/resources for large-scale projects
    • Expertise in test site operation regulations and safety protocols
    • Practical understanding of hazardous materials handling and safety management
    • Experience leading launch vehicle engine development projects at director or division head level
    • Technical leadership experience in startups or early-stage space companies
    • Experience in development/testing of rocket engines based on electric motor pump cycles
    • Experience in high-power battery-based supply system design or development
    • Practical skills in 3D CAD, thermal/flow analysis (CFD), structural analysis (FEM), and electrical design (E-CAD)
    • PMP or equivalent project management certification
    • Ability to write technical documents and conduct meetings in English
    • Experience in safety management and risk assessment at rocket engine test facilities
    • Experience in building/operating/analyzing combustion test stands
    • Risk management experience at test sites
