A next-generation aerospace company is recruiting a Head of Engine Development who will be responsible for establishing the mid-to-long-term development roadmap for launch vehicle engines. We welcome applications from professionals with 10+ years of engine development experience.
Responsibilities:
- Establish a detailed mid- to long-term roadmap for launch vehicle engine development
- Analyze trends in engine development/operation technologies and set directions for securing core technologies
- Manage development schedules and R&D performance of subordinate departments
- Develop budgets, allocate resources, and lead development processes
- Define design requirements for combustion chambers, igniters, and electric motor pumps for launch vehicles
- Lead system integration design and reviews for launch vehicle engines
- Establish and oversee test plans for combustion chambers and electric motor pumps
- Establish and oversee integrated system test plans for launch vehicle engines
- Manage test site facilities and ensure safety of engine test operations
- Secure safety in combustion and electric motor pump test environments
- Plan workforce needs and organizational growth strategies
Requirements:
- Master’s or PhD degree with 10+ years of engine development experience
- Major in aerospace engineering, combustion engineering, or mechanical engineering
- English proficiency
- Experience leading engineering teams, including system design
- Comprehensive understanding of liquid rocket engine components
- Knowledge of combustion chamber and electric motor pump development
- Strong grasp of system engineering processes and hands-on ability
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Effective decision-making capabilities
- Broad technical understanding of system design, analysis, testing, and operation
- Project planning, execution, control, and risk management for large-scale projects
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink modeling and simulation
- Ability to use data analysis and visualization tools
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD with 5+ years in engine development/operation
- Experience in rocket engine design and testing
- Electric motor pump system design and testing experience
- Strong skills in project budget/resource management
- Experience in test site regulations, safety protocol development, and execution
- Understanding of handling hazardous materials and safety management
- Previous experience as a project director, division head, or business unit leader for engine development
- Startup or early-stage aerospace company leadership experience
- Demonstrated development/testing of rocket engines with electric motor pump cycles
- Experience designing or developing high-power battery-based systems
- Hands-on experience in 3D CAD, CFD, FEM, and E-CAD
- PMP or equivalent project management certification
- English proficiency in technical writing and meetings
- Experience in safety management and risk assessment in rocket engine test environments
- Experience in establishing/operating test facilities and risk management
